Hey Fashloves!
As I grow in my fashion journey, I am slowly moving towards a more minimalist wardrobe and I am currently loving it! Not only is it easy to pair looks together because I’m working with a neutral palette (extremely versatile) but it is also very aesthetically pleasing. When looking for minimalist outfit inspirations I sometimes run into the issue of how much each piece can actually cost within those looks. Building a new wardrobe from the ground up isn’t the easiest – especially if you are on a budget (the college struggle is real guys!).
Minimalist Fashion: Wardrobe that is comprised of basic pieces in neural shades (black, white, nude, gray, etc). Minimalists follow the mantra: less is more.
1. Emphasize your accessory
I wanted to emphasize having an accessory to make a basic outfit stand out. Being that winter is right around the corner, I wanted to give some fur slayage. I got this fur from Amazon, not sure how much it costs because it was a gift lol but I’m in love with it. So in love that I don’t think I’ll actually wear it unless I go somewhere extra special. The midi skirt is from Cotton On and heels are from Forever21.
2. Add a touch of chic by wearing a coat
3. Versatility is key
Kay recommends getting minimalist pieces from affordable clothing stores such as Boohoo.com. If you would like to get extra deals then be sure to follow them on Instagram or sign up for their newsletter on their website. Also, if you enjoy shopping at thrift stores but would like to ensure that you will have access to pieces that are currently in style from familiar stores such as Forever21, then Plato’s Closet is your place to be! I personally love Plato’s Closet and have scored pieces that were half the price it would be in regular stores (if not less).
